From scenic to digital, activist, caring and familiar, dystopian, at times filled with rage, heavily detailed and at the same time large scaled, internationally acclaimed - what happens next? Where is Sami art going?
We will have a conversation about the central issues for Sami contemporary art going forward. Where does Sami contemporary art belong and what is required to make visible its artistic diversity? What is needed, within and outside of Sápmi, to facilitate continued artistic development on our own terms? Who defines what Sami contemporary art is and what it can be in the future?
A conversation between Liisa-Ravna Finbog, duojár and curator of Indigenous art at the museum MUNCH in Oslove Oslo, filmmaker Suvi West, who has made the award winning film Máhccan – Homecoming about rematriation of Sami objects, and Dine Arnannguaq Fenger Lynge, CEO of Dáiddadállu, Sami artist network located in Guovdageaidnu Kautokeino. The talk will be moderated by Maria Svonni from Verdde.
